What to look for in a Laptop

What do you look for when buying a laptop?I really need to upgrade my PC and am considering getting a laptop instead. There are just so many out there, it gets confusing. I want something that will last me a few years but will not break the bank.

				 | From what I read in consumer reports, there is no real difference in reliablility, regardless of the maker.
I just got a Toshiba Satellite with 15.4" screen, (I can't rememer the exact model but it's the same one TheDadFisherman got, there is a post in here somewhere). The price was right $650 after all the rebates, and this thing is a racecar compared to what I had in the past.

THey all come with Vista as an OS now, try to get the HomePremium version, it does have a few more bells and whistles.

 Good Luck.

				 | Fish...Go online, build one up at the dell site. They even have their own financing plans. Make sure you get a DVD player at least. That way you can watch movies while sleeping aboard the boat at nite, or in a room when traveling.

				 | I heard that Vista has built in blocking for downloads, in other words it blocks services like Kazaa, etc. I know Dell has a section with laptop that are returns, and sometimes you can score big. |

				 | I got mine at the Dell outlet store. it was $400 and did everything i wanted it too. it was called refurbished which means it was sold to someone , they booted it and returned it. they also have scratch and dents that are even cheaper. you have to ride the site and have credit card ready to buy when the one you want pops up. the good deals last about 10 seconds so you must be there refreshing the screen and ready to jump on the machine when it is listed. |
