Having said that, he's broken just about every record in Canadian football. I also feel the NFL never gave him a fair shot nor took him seriously. Nice to see him come back home non-the-less. I'd still rather have him then Drew Bledquick

Flutie or Rohan Davies?? I'd rather have Flutie, plus he fits the mold of the Pat's, where they look for intelligence along with talent.

Plus I don't buy the whole "too Short" thing...I've seen plenty of tall QB's suck wind over the years.

What's the difference between a 5'10" QB who releases straight overhand and a 6'5" one who throws sidearm?

Flutie's the same height as Joe Theismann, and no one ever said Theismann was "too short" to play QB in the NFL

I agree with Outfished....Flutie is a proven winner on every level he has played at and his winning percentage reflects it and is higher than most other QB's.....Reelecstasy....you think he is too short? The guy wins....knows how to win more than most taller QB's I have ever seen.....and I never thought he got a fair chance in the NFL! He spent his prime in Canada.....and then wasted away in San Diego and Buffalo. If Brady goes down, Gawd forbid, you will not find a better backup anywhere, 42 years old or not the guy can come into a game cold and make things happen and he is not a liabiliy. I am thrilled he is with the Pats.

good signing, i have no faith in rohan- although he ruled in world football- it ain't the nfl. never realized that joe t. was 5' 10".

I'm not a Flutie fan, my wife thinks he's cute

I think if you were going to put together the perfect quarterback, peice by peice,
Flutie's brain & the intangables (and athletic ability) he brings to the game, would be a great start.
And if you could add some size to him (between 6'3" - 6'5" ) (Like Drew Bledsoe) big guy, great arm, NO brain!
Add a cannon of an arm (Like a guy like Jeff George) another good size guy with a HUGE arm, but NO brain or idea how to play the game to win!!!

WOW!!! that would be a great quarterback

I don't think there has ever been the perfect Quarterback, who has had all the tools like that in the NFL ever!
A guy like Dan Fouts comes kind of close! Of coures there is was Marino, and Elway who had all the tools!!!

But I'm sure all the Pats fans here are going to try to tell me that Tom Brady is that guy!!!

DREAM ON PATS FANS!!! Show me that he can hit a 20 yd out, without bouncing the ball on the turf 3-5 yds in front of the reciever!!!

brady's not perfect, but there are 31 gms' that would love to have him on they're team. 3 sbs' wins in his 5 nfl years- not to bad. in todays league i think he brings the best package.

Ron will never admit that Brady is a great quarterback...mediocre QB's don't win 3 Superbowl rings Ron. He will be remembered as one of the best ever.

Brady is a very good quarterback, and just like Montana,
plays within his limitations!!!
Both guys have/had average arms!!!

I do think he is short, I am not saying he isn't decent but a qb rating of 76.4 over 86 games doesn't blow me away..and a over hand release from a 5-10 guy wouldn't even be 7-10, like I said just MO..
He will fit in with the pats offense, you don't need to be an amazing qb. You need to be able to do your job....

The biggest limitation any QB can have is his supporting cast---that's why two of the best pure passers ever, Sonny Jurgensen and Dan Marino, have zero rings between them

And IMO the true MVP of SB III was Matt Snell, not Namath

The biggest advantage a quarterback can have is a great supporting cast also
As in Montana (Rice, Taylor, Brent Jones, Roger Craig, just to name a few weapons he had, not to mention the 9ers usually had a VERY good defense!!!

Matt Snell should have been co mvp with Buddy Ryan!!!

My point simply being that you keep knocking guys like Brady and Montana (proven winners) making excuses for why they won when we all realize that a winning football team is a sum of its pieces. I guarantee you would have a different opinion of Montana and Brady had they been wearing Raider colors!

I was surprised to hear Flute was signed. But you have to look at it this way,
Flute ranks no 3 in yards passing behind Dam Marino and Warren Moon. I don't find that too shabby.

I would love to have Montana or Brady on the Raiders !!!
But can I have Montana, with Jerry Rice (in his prime) John Taylor, Roger Craig,Tom Rathman, Brent Jones, , the 4ers defense and Bill Walsh coaching my team?

Can I get the Pats defense, Adan Viniteiri, Bill Belicheck, and their way of playing as a team?
I would have loved to see Marino on the 9ers teams during the 80s - 90s with those teams they had!!!
Put Montana on the Dolphins teams, with those sorry defenses and running games they had, and I don't think he has 4 rings!!! Though I think he still would have been a very good quarterback, but winning superbowls?

Unfortunately, a guy like Marring is most likely going to end up with same kind of career like Marino, Dan Fouts, ect....

Not bad for a little squirt. Anyhow, I'm partial to Doug, He's from my neighborhood and I've met him a few times and is an A1 guy. We knock at his door, its around 8:00pm on a Saturday and wouldn't you know, he answers the door, invites us in, we shoot the chit for awhile, gives us the grand tour, play some pool with him, jam in his basement in his studio and invites us back again!. Cool guy for sure.
