Only good reason is when the tip breaks. Seriously the 4-8 2 piece I did feel , cast & fish nice . Tip broke and trimmed to #9 . Still fishes great. Actually feels better with high end weights....

Kevin i too assembly lip plugs for same reason. Then onto dryer. Pikes dont get wired but lip screws secure lip in w/ epoxy.
