The beads actually creat some space beteen the end of the plug and the front prop, between the two props, and between the end prop and the tail wrap to allow the props to spin the way they should....

I saw a machine advertised that does just that, record records to CDs. As I recall it was about $300. It had a retro look to it. I think Linens and Things carries(d) it. I have no idea how good it is.
