I'm cheap so I roll quarters and dimes (free rolls from the bank), and then dump the pennies and nickels into the coinstar machine. To me, it is worth the 9% to not roll the small stuff.

CO will silently kill but if you want to do it this way, why not just turn off the furnace while your s#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&g air outside. You'll lose some heat but no CO worries.
