I use Rusto and wait a day between coats. For in between coats I like to use the nylon scuff pads, this seems to be more than enough. And two weeks is the minimum I wait after sealing.

try epoxy that is what is for these kind of repaires. you might have to remove the fighing butt and force epoxy into the reelseat then reglue the fighting butt.

I have one that I cut one foot off the bottom and it is a good eel rod also throws medium plugs, tins, not so good with bombers but it will do it. Cutting the blank does seem to make softer more...
